Terraced rice paddies extending along the confluence of the Shinano and Uono rivers are an impressive scenic attraction unique to this area. On a hill overlooking downtown is “Sokyu-no-mori Park” complete with accommodation and hot-spring bathing facilities. Other tourist attraction is the “Yanaba” weir, which retains a form of traditional river fishing and attracts some 300,000 tourists annually.
