The past several years have seen an exceptionally high growth of FPDs (flat panel displays) including LCD TV sets and monitors. We cater to this buoyant market by developing and producing CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lighting) electrodes, the illuminant for LCD backlighting.
Our wire processing technology takes material characteristics of electrodes fully into account. We boast the world’s largest production capacity for electrodes, which is backed by nearly unmanned production and inspection equipment as well as our integrated analytical capability not limited to electrodes.
Toshiba Shomei Precision will continue to dedicate ourselves to offering truly value-enhancing proposals to our customers through new materials proposals by our highly creative and knowledgeable R&D staff, attentive customization to customer specifications, and creation of highly reliable products.

Resistance welding

Laser welding

Welding is a method of joining materials, mainly metallic, using heat generated by energizing the materials to be welded. Welding can be applied to a wide range of packaging technologies since it can directly join various types of parts. This process creates welds through application of laser beams, the heat source, to the target materials, melting and solidifying the area to be welded.
Gas welding

Arc welding

This process employs gas to melt and weld materials.
Arc welding is a process by which different types of metal materials are welded using high-temperature heat generated by electric discharge between these materials.

Burner method bead sealing

Continuous furnace method bead sealing

This method uses our proprietary burner processing to affix glass beads to a welded metal wire to be sealed. Our KOV sealing process surpasses other electrode manufacturers in respect to ion diffusion sealing performance and offers an exceptionally high reliability against leakage. To metals (Mo and W) to be sealed, we apply glass beads sealing via continuous furnace, taking advantage of our technology nurtured in burner sealing.
Electrodes for cold cathode lamp (glass- beading welds with a cup)

Without sticking to existing Ni, Mo and Nb, we develop new metallic materials such as Ni alloys and engage in their dissolution through to electrode manufacture and lamp evaluation. We have successfully developed high-intensity cups and so forth ahead of the competition, applying our proprietary deep-drawing press working technology.

Image inspection

To create highly reliable products

We use an image inspection machine to conduct dimensional inspection of completed electrodes, piece by piece in the order of 1/1000mm accuracy. This is followed by visual inspection using cutting-edge inspection equipment.
Our efforts to pursue products of the highest possible reliability include SEM/EDX-based ion diffusion analysis on glass bead-sealed sections, and even lamp evaluation (we are the only case doing this as an electrode manufacturer of cold cathode lamps).
