Responding to climate change

We aim to achieve carbon neutrality throughout our value chain by 2050. We are promoting responses to climate change by reducing the amount of energy used in production processes, promoting the introduction of highly energy-efficient processes and equipment, and using renewable energy. In the future, we will work together with our suppliers to reduce greenhouse gas emissions derived from purchased products and services, and to focus on climate change adaptation measures. Toshiba Group has obtained SBT (Science Based Targets) certification in FY2020 for its greenhouse gas reduction targets for FY2030.

Responding to the circular economy

We are working to reduce the amount of waste from both the improvement of the waste discharge amount per unit, which indicates the efficiency of our business processes, and the control of the total amount. We focus on not generating waste, and we are working to improve our recycling rate. Also, at each stage of design development, production, and distribution, thorough consideration is given to waste reduction, recycling, and ease of disposal. We identify the composition of waste, promote the reduction and elimination of harmful substances, and thoroughly separate storage.

Consideration for the ecosystem

By promoting biodiversity conservation activities inside and outside our business sites, we will contribute to the creation of a society where people can live in harmony with nature and continue to enjoy the blessings of the ecosystem.

Green procurement

Green procurement means procuring products, parts, materials, etc. that have a low environmental impact from suppliers who actively promote environmental conservation. In order to promote business activities that take into account the reduction of the environmental impact and risks of hazardous chemical substances, it is essential to carry out activities throughout the entire supply chain, and the cooperation of our business partners, our suppliers, is essential.

We would like to ask all of our suppliers for their understanding and cooperation in green procurement in order to build a sustainable society.
